What Is Budesonide Rotacaps 100?
Budecort 100 Rotacap contains budesonide, a corticosteroid used to manage and prevent asthma symptoms. Budecort Rotacaps are designed for inhalation through a Rotahaler device, which allows the medication to reach the lungs directly.
Who is Budesonide Rotacaps 100 used for?
- Asthma: Budesonide is used as a maintenance therapy for asthma to reduce inflammation in the airways, preventing asthma symptoms like wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness.
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD): Although less common, it may also be used in certain cases of COPD as part of a combination therapy to reduce inflammation.
How It Works
Budesonide is a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the airways, making breathing easier. It decreases the activity of inflammatory cells and the release of substances that cause inflammation, thereby helping to control chronic respiratory conditions like asthma.
Rotahaler: The Rotacap is placed inside the Rotahaler, a dry powder inhaler device. When you inhale through the device, the medication is released and delivered directly into your lungs.
Steps:
- Insert the Budecort Rotacap into the Rotahaler device.
- Twist the Rotahaler to break the capsule and release the powder.
- Exhale fully, then place the mouthpiece between your lips.
- Inhale deeply and steadily to take in the medication.
- You should hold your breath for a few seconds before slowly exhaling.
- Rinse your mouth with water after inhaling to reduce the risk of oral thrush (a common side effect of inhaled corticosteroids).
